The Catholic Church of St Margaret Mary, New Moston is a Parish Church of the Diocese of Salford, and also home of the Ordinariate of Our Lady of Walsingham in north Manchester.
The Ordinariate community is a group of Catholics with an Anglican heritage. We desire to follow Christ in full communion with the Church he founded, whilst retaining aspects of the Anglican tradition which are in accordance with the Catholic faith. Fr Andrew Starkie, Parish Priest, was formerly Vicar of St Gabriel’s (Church of England) Church, Middleton Junction, Manchester. He was amongst the ‘first wave’ of Ordinariate Clergy to be ordained, in July 2011.
The Ordinariate community first met in St Peter’s Church, Middleton, and then in St Joseph's Church, Heywood. St Margaret Mary's became home to the Ordinariate in north Manchester in February 2018.
